（2018-2020） Lov-Lov Project
From the headlines today it’s clear that automation technology—namely artificial intelligence (AI)—is routinely creating unique moral and ethical problems which are new to humankind. Whether it’s autopilot plane crashes, dubious algorithmic decision-making, autonomous drones, or the daily replacement of someone’s job with a piece of software, it’s clear that, as a culture and a society, we will have some reckoning to do if we will ever integrate these powerful technologies into a just and improved society.
The development of modern civilization provides us with a more efficient world, but at the same time it also gives birth to a kind of "non-living", which leads to excessive scientific worship and material consumption dependence. This is manifested in social structure and individual life even before AI technology reaches its potential, humanity runs the risk of abandoning its own potential; as a race, our selfishness and our inflexible obsession with fulfilling each and every desire could lead us to a developmental dead end.
Motivated by current political, social, and cultural circumstances, I intend to create an experimental, dramatic, absurd-yet-poetic project to provoke social awareness and responsibility. I want to address the personal and ethical issues that society will need to deal with once our every need and desire can only be fulfilled perfectly using AI technology. The project will also focus on how intimacy and human interaction should be defined in such a society.
When our identities are increasingly shaped and presented in a digital forum, what are the long-term implications for our direct engagement with the world and others? What will be the role of humans, our bodies, and our brains?
